Monaco with Children in Autumn: What to Do During the October Holidays

Autumn is a convenient time for a family trip to Monaco: the main attractions remain open, while special activities for children appear in the second half of October. In 2026, the Toussaint school holidays in Monaco begin on the evening of 21 October and continue until the morning of 3 November.

Families planning to spend several days in the Principality can combine the fair at Port Hercule, the Oceanographic Museum, walks and parks, as well as special activities for children.

Foire Attractions: Monaco's autumn fair at the harbour

One of the main family events of the autumn is the traditional Foire Attractions de Monaco, which runs fr om 16 October to 19 November at Port Hercule in 2026.

Amusement rides, games and food stalls for children and adults line the harbour. The fair opens on 16 October at 14:00. On regular days, children's rides and some food stands begin operating from 11:00, while all stands are open from 14:00 to 23:00. On Fridays, Saturdays and the evenings before public holidays, opening continues until midnight.

Its location directly beside the harbour makes the fair easy to combine with a walk through central Monaco or Monaco-Ville.

For families spending several days in the Principality in the second half of October, it is one of the simplest options for an evening activity without travelling outside Monaco.

The Oceanographic Museum: a key family attraction

Musée océanographique de Monaco remains one of the most suitable places to visit with children regardless of the weather.

In October, the museum is open daily from 10:00 to 18:00. The museum itself recommends allowing around two hours for a standard visit. In addition to the aquariums, various educational and interactive activities are available for children.

A dedicated school-holiday programme is Club Oceano, a week-long educational course for children aged 6 to 12. Two sessions are scheduled for autumn 2026:

  • 19–23 October — “Apprentis océanographes”;
  • 26–30 October — “Explorateurs des pôles”.

The programme runs from Monday to Friday from 9:00 to 17:00, with activities conducted in French. The price indicated by the museum at the time of checking is €450 per child for the week, including lunch and an afternoon snack. Places are limited.

For visitors, this format is most relevant to families staying in Monaco or the nearby French Riviera for at least a week and whose children are comfortable participating in French.

Parc Princesse Antoinette: playgrounds, a small farm and games

For a quieter day, families can visit Parc Princesse Antoinette.

The park has play areas for young children, sports facilities and table tennis. It also includes an 18-hole mini-golf course and a small animal farm with goats, rabbits, ducks and guinea pigs.

Opening hours change during October: from 1 to 20 October, the park is open from 8:30 to 18:00, and from 21 October it closes at 17:30.

A special Halloween programme with shows, games and entertainment is also scheduled for 31 October 2026. However, the official programme is intended for children aged four and over who live or attend school in Monaco. Visitors should therefore not plan around this event without first confirming eligibility.

A walk around Larvotto and eastern Monaco

If the weather is suitable, part of the day can be spent outdoors.

The Larvotto district is well suited to a walk along the seafront, with the Japanese Garden and Grimaldi Forum nearby. It is also possible to walk between Larvotto and central Monaco through the new Mareterra pedestrian area.

This route can easily be combined with a museum visit or other activities without trying to fill the entire day with organised attractions.

With younger children, it is sensible to avoid an overly packed itinerary. Monaco is compact, but elevation changes and numerous uphill sections can make a short distance on the map more tiring than expected.

How to plan several days in Monaco with children

For a three- or four-day family stay, it works well to alternate activities with fixed schedules and more flexible walks.

For example, one day can be devoted to the Oceanographic Museum and Monaco-Ville, another to Larvotto and the eastern part of the Principality, while an evening can be reserved for the Foire Attractions. Parc Princesse Antoinette fits particularly well into a programme with younger children or as a calmer alternative to a full sightseeing day.

When choosing wh ere to stay, it is useful to consider the children's ages, daily routes and proximity to the places the family actually intends to visit. For a short trip, selecting two or three main points of interest in advance makes it easier to organise each day's movements around them.

An autumn family trip to Monaco does not require an elaborate itinerary: a few well-chosen activities are enough to combine the sea, walks, educational experiences and the Principality's traditional October events.
